The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. The proposed information collection was previously published in the Federal Register on October 10, 2019. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 30 days for public comment on the extension without change of a currently approved collection. The letter shall state that the firearms is to be used in the official duties of the officer and that he/she has not been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
