The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. The proposed information collection was previously published in the Federal Register on August 1, 2019. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 30 days for public comment on the a revision of an currently approved collection. The proposed information collection pertains to requiring Federal Firearms Licensees who discover that a shipped firearm was stolen or lost in transition, must report the theft or loss to ATF and the appropriate local authorities within 48 hours of discovery. The reports can be filed using the Interstate Firearms Shipment Theft/Loss Report-ATF Form 3310.6.
