The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. The proposed information collection was previously published in the Federal Register on February 21, 2019. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 30 days for public comment on the extension without change of a currently approved collection. The proposed information collection pertains to surveys sent to students and supervisors 6 months after completing training to determine if the training adequately prepared them for duties as an explosives detection canine handler. Survey responses are used to improve the training and ensure it remains current to the needs of the field. The surveys are used for both the basic explosives canine handler-training program and the advanced EDC SEEK K–9 courses.
