The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. The proposed information collection was previously published in the Federal Register on April 6, 2018 As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 30 days for public comment on the extension without change of an existing collection. The proposed information collection pertains to the nonimmigrant alien information used to determine if a nonimmigrant alien is eligible to obtain a Federal firearms license and purchase, obtain, possess, or import a firearms. Nonimmigrant aliens also must maintain the documents while in possession of firearms or ammunition in the United States for verification purposes.
