The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. The proposed information collection was previously published in the Federal Register on April 4, 2018. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 30 days for public comment on the revision of an existing collection. The proposed information collection involves Firearm manufacturers’ records that are permanent records of all firearms manufactured and records of their disposition. These records are vital to support ATF’s mission to inquire about the disposition of any firearm in the course of a criminal investigation.
