Paperwork Reduction Act Notice on Extension of an Information Collection
Purpose
The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. This proposed extension seeks comments on an existing form that Federal Explosives Licensees are required by statute to provide to ATF within 24 hours of the discovery of a loss or theft of explosives. This form contains the minimum information necessary for ATF to initiate criminal investigations related to firearm or explosives thefts.
