Buffalo Man Arrested After Cocaine and a Loaded Weapon Were Found in His Residence
BUFFALO, N.Y. - U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced today that Adrian Funderburk, 37, of Buffalo, NY, was arrested and charged by criminal complaint with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles E. Watkins, who is handling the case, stated that according to the complaint, on January 6, 2021, the Buffalo Police Department, with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, executed a state search warrant at the defendant’s residence on Wecker Street in Buffalo. During the search, investigators recovered a loaded .40 caliber pistol, approximately one ounce of suspected cocaine, a quantity of suspected marijuana, and approximately $81,000 in cash. Funderburk was taken into custody during the execution of the search warrant.
The defendant made an initial appearance today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy and was released on conditions.
The complaint is the result of an investigation by the Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Byron Lockwood, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge John B. Devito.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
