Purpose

The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 30 additional days for public comment on a new currently approved collection. The proposed information collection pertains to the Authorization for Release of Information—ATF Form 8620.56, that is used to determine if a candidate complies with personnel security requirements and is suitable for Federal or contractor employment at ATF.
