The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. The proposed information collection was previously published in the Federal Register on January 27, 2020. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 30 days for public comment on the extension without change of an existing collection. The proposed information collection pertains to the Application for Alternate Means of Identification of Firearms(s) (Marking Variance)-ATF Form 3311.4, to provide a uniform means for industry members with a valid Federal importer or manufacturer License, to request a firearm marking variance.
