Application for Tax Exempt Transfer and Registration of Firearm (ATF Form 5 (5320.5) (OMB Number 1140-0015)

The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. The proposed information collection was previously published in the Federal Register on April 25, 2019. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 30 days for public comment on the revision of an existing collection. The proposed information collection pertains to the ATF Form 5 (5320.5) that is required to be completed by a person with a registered National Firearms Act (NFA) firearms who wishes to apply for permission to transfer and register NFA firearms. Approval of the application effectuates the registration of a firearm to the transferee. The transferee claims an exemption from the transfer tax by filing this application.
