The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 60 days for public comment on the revision of a currently approved collection. The proposed information collection pertains to ATF Form 4473 (5300.9). The form allows for Federal firearms licensees to determine the eligibility of persons purchasing firearms. It also alerts buyers to certain restrictions on the receipt and possession of firearms. This revision is to make available a Spanish version of the Form 4473 as a courtesy to Federal firearms licensees with clientele for whom Spanish is their native language.
