Application and Permit for Temporary Importation of Firearms and Ammunition by Nonimmigrant Aliens (OMB Number 1140–0084)

The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. This proposed information collection (form) was initially published in the Federal Register April 15, 2014 (79 FR 21286), allowing for a 60 day comment period. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, and with the initial public comment period completed, this notice provides an additional 30 days for public comment on the collection as the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) considers the agency’s information collection request and the comments received during the initial public comment period. The proposed information collection pertains to a form which provides information that allows ATF to determine if firearms or ammunition proposed for importation by nonimmigrant aliens are able to be imported, and to certify that a nonimmigrant alien is in compliance with 18 U.S.C. 922(g) (5) (B). The completed form also serves as the authorization for importation, if granted.
