The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 60 days for public comment on the proposed extension of an existing collection. The information collection pertains to firearms manufacturers’ records that are permanent records of all firearms manufactured and records of their disposition. These records are vital to support ATF’s mission to inquire into the disposition of any firearm in the course of a criminal investigation.
