Extension Without Change of a Currently Approved Information Collection
Purpose
The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 60 days for public comment on the extension without change of a currently approved collection. The proposed information collection pertains to the Application for Alternate Means of Identification of Firearm(s) (Marking Variance)-ATF Form 3311.4, to provide a uniform mean for industry members with a valid Federal importer or manufacturer License, to request firearms marking variance.
