The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. The proposed information collection was previously published in the Federal Register on January 11, 2016. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 30 days for public comment on the revision of an existing collection. The proposed information collection pertains to the form that is used by a State to certify to ATF that it has established a qualifying mental health relief from the firearms disabilities program that satisfies certain minimum criteria established by the NICS Improvement Amendment Act of 2007.
