Certification of Qualifying State Relief from Disabilities Program (OMB Number 1140–0094)
Action
Paperwork Reduction Act Revision of a Currently Approved Information Collection
Purpose
The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 60 days for public comment on the revision of a currently approved collection. The proposed information collection pertains to the form that is used by a State to certify to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) that it has established a qualifying mental health relief from the firearms disabilities program that satisfies certain minimum criteria stashed by the NICS Improvement Amendment Act of 2007.
