The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 30 days for public comment on the extension with change of an existing collection. The proposed information collection pertains to required maintenance of records showing daily activities in the importation, manufacture, receipt, storage, and disposition of all explosive materials covered under 18 U.S.C. Chapter 40 Explosives. These records must also show where and to whom explosive materials are sent, thereby ensuring that any diversions will be readily apparent, and that ATF will be immediately notified if these materials are lost or stolen.
