Circumstances of Death

Prohibition Agent Dallas Adelbert Roberts and several State officers were returning to Fresno with two prisoners they had arrested during an earlier still raid in Firebaugh, CA.  Deputy District Attorney William White was driving when the vehicle's hydraulic brakes locked-up, causing the vehicle to crash and roll over several times.  Agent Roberts sustained fatal injuries and died hours later at a local hospital.  Several other officers and prisoners were seriously injured.

Background

Agent Roberts joined the Prohibition Unit on April 6, 1925, with an annual salary of $1,860.  He was assigned to the Los Angeles Field Division.

Personal

Agent Roberts was born in Hulett, WY.  He was survived by his wife, Ruth and daughter.
