Circumstances of Death

Prohibition Agent Charles Howell and several fellow agents had just completed a still raid in Limestone County, AL.  From ambush, a shot rang out and Agent Howell was instantly killed.  While a number of individuals were arrested, the person that shot Agent Howell was never identified.

Background

Agent Howell joined the Prohibition Unit on August 15, 1920, with an annual salary of $1,500.

Agent Howell was born in Marion County, AL.  He was survived by his wife.
