Circumstances of Death

Prohibition Agent Jacob Green, along with local officers, raided a still near Richton, MS.  During an ensuing shootout with several moonshiners, Agent Green was shot in the head and killed.  Also shot and killed was the local town Marshal,  J. Dunnam.  Henry Bonds, Mancey Kelly, John Adams and A. Morris were all arrested for the shooting and operation of the illicit still.  In June 1921, Henry Bonds was convicted for both murders and sentenced to hang.
