Circumstances of Death
Prohibition Agent Malcolm "Mack" Day and other agents were executing a Federal search warrant for illicit liquor on the property of Jim Sneed near Welch, WV. During the search, Sneed ran into his house, retrieved a gun and shot and killed Agent Day. Other prohibition agents then shot and killed Sneed.
Agent Day joined the Prohibition Unit on May 1, 1920, with any annual salary of $1,800.
Agent Day was born in Buchanan City, VA. He was survived by his wife, Charlotte (née Milam), of Belcher Mountain, WV.
