  2. In fiscal year 2015 ATF had 5,026 employees, including 2,618 special agents and 811 industry operations investigators. The agency’s 2015 enacted budget was $1.201 billion.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is a world-class law enforcement organization committed to safeguarding lives by protecting the public from violent crime. ATF protects the public from crimes involving firearms, explosives, arson, and the diversion of tobacco products; regulates lawful commerce in firearms and explosives; and provides worldwide support to law enforcement, public safety, and industry partners.
